The Oklahoma City Thunder announced today that center Nerlens Noel sustained a concussion after suffering a blow to the head during last night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Noel was injured in the third quarter of the game when he fell hard after attempting to block a shot. He was immediately taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The Thunder released a statement saying that Noel is currently undergoing further testing and is expected to be released from the hospital later today. The team did not provide a timetable for his return to action.
Noel has been a key contributor for the Thunder this season, averaging 6.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. He has missed only two games all season.
The Thunder are currently 25-26 on the season and are in ninth place in the Western Conference. They will be back in action on Thursday night when they host the Dallas Mavericks.
